Just thought I&#39;d mention that while I haven&#39;t (and refuse to) read any of the Twilight books, Buffy was fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn&#39;t watch Buffy until a few years after it was cancelled (after seeing Firefly, which I also didn&#39;t see until after cancellation).<br /><br />The creepy thing about Buffy (or maybe just Buffy fans) to me is how many women seem to think that Spike is the ideal man. We need more men like Dr. Van Helsing, Dracula&#39;s main protagonist, (a real life example: the Ronald Reagan man’s man type who wisely and loyally stick to their moral principles and fight for them and uphold family values at the same time while not demeaning woman but who depend on their strengths). we also need more women like Rose Sayer, Catherine Hepburn&#39;s character in The African Queen - 1951 (a real life example: well, the owner of this blog, Breda, who seems quite ready, willing and able to stand up and defend her moral principles yet does not blur the distinction between a man and a woman in doing so). Note that in each instance those moral principles for which each person I mentioned stands are those of freedom, individuality, teamwork by individuals for the common good, a bedrock of decency, defeating a common enemy such as tyranny and evil, the willingness to take up arms to do so and the willingness to die trying - in essence good conservative moral values at play.
