Keepsake Quilting has mail order fabrics and the quality is wonderful. I, too, am very tactile with fabric purchases but I have always been very satisfied with orders from Keepsake Quilting - it feels like Christmas when the package arrives.

I have seen the signage here in NC as well. It is funny to me that they seem to post it in the less desirable neighborhood stores but not in the ones in better areas. It is as if they think those who are illegally carrying will stay out?

If you have a CHL, Oregon state law allows concealed carry in schools and universities and near the end of September it was ruled that the Oregon University system's gun bans are illegal.

The AC Moore by me didn't sell fabric last time I was in there, which I will admit has been a while. We USED to have a Hancock (infact I worked for them, guess where my paycheck ended back up), but the stores here were among those closed when they declared bankruptcy.

I've bought fabrics online, but in general I don't care too, I'm definetly among the group of people who likes to put their hands on it first!

Joann's is the only place by me that carries fabrics in general. There's a couple of private quilting shops, and Michaels if I want craft stuff, but if I want fabric I have to go to Joann's. That sucks.

I haven't seen the sign in my local JoAnn's but will look for it, and will contact their corporate. I've spend a LOT of money there, mainly because it's the only place you can get quality yarn at reasonable prices in Oregon (the Michaels shops out here have a really poor yarn selection, WalMart & similar chains only have crappy acrylic yarn, and I've never even heard of Hobby Lobby). I do shop my local yarn stores but they charge a fortune and a half.

Meh, find an independent shop and give them your business. They generally have more variety in their fabrics anyway, and sometimes you can find really unique things in their notions/accessories.
